Founded in 2024 by Harish Varadharajan, Damian Lopez-Salazar, and Timothy Van Niekerk, the Fragaria Fruits startup aims to revolutionize India’s fruit industry through high-tech farming and sustainable practices. 

The founders bring over 25 years of global agriculture experience, spanning six countries.

The Fragaria Fruits raised funding to expand operations in Bengaluru and strengthen its mission of redefining fruit quality in India. The company’s flagship brand, Oh! Fruits, offers premium European strawberries grown in Chennai using advanced vertical farming technology. 

These strawberries are pesticide-free, twice as sweet as local varieties, and have a shelf life three times longer than typical market produce.

According to Timothy Van Niekerk, Co-founder of Fragaria Fruits, “This funding will allow us to scale operations and reach a larger consumer base with consistently high-quality fruit. It’s a key step in building India’s most trusted fruit brand.”

Rohit Krishna, Partner at WEH Ventures, added, “Fragaria Fruits funding round addresses a key inefficiency in India’s fruit supply chain. Their use of cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices is a game-changer for India’s premium fruit market.”

The Fragaria Fruits investment will help the company expand its premium portfolio to include blueberries and raspberries. It also plans to ensure a year-round supply of high-quality, sustainably grown fruits across India.
