Ola Electric officially entered India’s battery energy storage market on October 16, 2025, with the launch of its new product, Ola Shakti. The move marks the company’s expansion beyond electric vehicles and into the fast-growing clean energy sector.
Ola Shakti is a residential battery backup system designed for homes, small businesses, and farms. The product line includes four variants, priced between Rs 29,999 and Rs 1,59,999 for the first 10,000 units.
The systems come in capacities ranging from 1.5 kWh to 9.1 kWh, making them suitable for various power needs. Ola said the product uses its 4680 Bharat Cell technology, which is also used in its electric vehicles.
India’s First Fully Made-in-India Energy Storage System
According to the company, Ola Shakti represents India’s first fully domestically designed and manufactured residential battery energy storage system. The product is built at Ola’s state-of-the-art Gigafactory in Bengaluru.
This launch highlights Ola Electric’s commitment to strengthening India’s self-reliance in clean energy manufacturing and reducing dependence on imported components.

Market Outlook and Growth Potential
Ola noted that India’s battery energy storage market is currently valued at Rs 1 lakh crore and is expected to grow to Rs 3 lakh crore by 2030.
Ola Electric plans to scale up its annual battery consumption for this segment to 5 GWh in the coming years, potentially surpassing its automotive battery needs.
Bhavish Aggarwal’s Vision for Energy Independence
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, said that the launch of Ola Shakti addresses India’s energy storage opportunity rather than an energy shortage.
He explained that the company is using its existing production facilities and its network of 4,000 stores to scale the new product line efficiently, without requiring additional capital expenditure.

Reservations for Ola Shakti began on October 16, 2025, with a booking amount of Rs 999. The company has announced that deliveries will start during Makar Sankranti in January 2026.
