The Modi government has provided more than 51,000 appointment letters to fresh recruits into different central departments and ministries at an event held at the 17th Rozgar Mela. According to the Prime Minister, this move is a gesture of India being dedicated to youth empowerment and inclusive development in the world that is increasingly competitive.
According to PM Modi, each Rozgar Mela serves as an emblem of the continuing journey of the government to offer young Indians decent jobs. According to him, we are not only out to provide employment but also to empower the youth with skills, opportunities, and platforms to create the future of India.
GST Bachat Utsav becomes Rozgar Utsav
In his speech, Modi pointed out that the newly launched GST Bachat Utsav (Savings Festival) has become a Rozgar Utsav (Employment Festival). He attributed the GST reforms to changing the economic environment, increasing consumer demand, and giving a direct impetus to the retail and manufacturing sectors in India.
Using government statistics, the Prime Minister disclosed that in 2025 the Diwali sales had gone up by 25 percent to 6.05 lakh crore from what they were the previous year. We had just achieved new records in Dhanteras and Diwali record sales and broke previous records. “This shows that the GST reforms have provided the new impetus to the economy of the country,” said Modi.
Its record festive sales are a sign of simplification of the tax regime and reduced GST on consumer goods and enhanced digital compliance that has made products cheaper and accessible to more people in the market.

According to the recent GST reforms suggested by the Modi government, the tax structure became easier as fewer slabs and lower taxes on necessity and common goods took place. This not only alleviated a burden on the consumer, but it also stimulated domestic demand.
According to economists, the changes promoted increased consumer spending over the festive season, which is backed by the robust rural and urban engagement. As well as the automobiles, electronics, apparel, jewelry, and FMCG sectors experienced unparalleled expansion in sales volume.
In addition, the small and medium businesses (MSMEs) enjoyed easier tax filing and quicker access to the refunds, which enabled them to expand their operations, especially at the peak festive seasons.
Employment Growth Spurred by Economic Growth
Connecting GST reforms with job creation, Modi indicated that a burst of economic activity has created new job opportunities in the various economic sectors. Key beneficiaries of the festive boom, such as the manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce, and retail industries, have increased employment in order to satisfy the increasing demand.
The prime minister said the GST reforms are not a matter of tax reforms; the reforms are job creation reforms. The GST has enhanced the purchasing power of people and industrial production, resulting in new job opportunities in the country due to the saved money.
He also once again reiterated the vision of the government on having a self-reliant and developed India (Viksit Bharat) so that economic development directly translates into better livelihood and prosperity of the population.

With the boom in consumer spending in India and a digital revolution, the government is optimistic that the GST-based economic expansion will propel the employment sector. The analysts believe that the festival will further the momentum to the next quarter and further underpin the GDP growth and fiscal stability.
The Prime Minister ended his speech by reinstating that the combination of Rozgar Mela and GST reforms are the two engines in the growth narrative of India, such as employment and empowerment. As consumption increases, the industries are developed and new jobs are formed. Such is the continuation cycle of progress that is New India, he said.
